About Jimmy Doherty
Jimmy’s farming journey started over 20 years ago when he took on a leasehold of a 100-acre farm just outside Ipswich which was followed in a BBC series called ‘Jimmy’s Farm’. Jimmy has turned the farm into a hugely successful and well known wildlife park, home to not only farmyard favourites like pigs and goats, but also home to zebras, crocodiles, and The Lost Land of the Tundra exhibit which is the home to polar bears, Arctic wolves and Arctic foxes.
Jimmy is one of the main presenters on Channel’s 4’s longest running food series ‘Food Unwrapped’ now in it’s 24th series. He also hosts a breakfast show on ITV1 ‘Jimmy and Shivi’s Farmhouse Breakfast’ which runs throughout the summer and is filmed in the beautiful gardens of his farm. His other credits include ‘Jimmy’s Taste of Florida’ for ITV1, ‘Jimmy’s New Zealand Escape’, which was broadcast on C4 in the UK and Discovery worldwide, and ‘Britain’s Water Scandal’ which was part of the Dispatches strand on C4.
Jimmy has always been passionate about nature and farming. By the time he was 16, he was the youngest ever Assistant Entomologist at the Mole Hall Wildlife Park in Walden. After gaining a degree in Zoology, Jimmy worked at the Entomology Department at London’s Natural History Museum before moving on to Coventry University where he researched for a Doctorate in Entomology, set up an insect laboratory and taught Animal Ecology and Animal Philosophy to undergraduate students. Jimmy is currently Visiting Professor of the Faculty of Science and Engineering in Anglia Ruskin University.
Jimmy has written three books, the most recent ‘Tales From Jimmy’s Farm’ to coincide with the 20 year anniversary of his farm. He also has an award winning range of turkeys sold in supermarkets and online every Christmas.
