Website
Aged 18, fresh out of school and with little more than surfing on his mind, Matt landed a job at his local wine shop in order to make ends meet. Little did he know that he'd soon discover an insatiable passion and fascination for wine that would eventually see him writing about it, teaching it - and a decade later - leaving his hometown of Melbourne to head up Wine Operations at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Restaurant, in London.
Matt has both a refreshing take on the industry and a knack for making wine simple. His first book 'Thirsty Work' sold into a staggering 14 countries and was translated into 9 foreign languages. Recently, Thirsty Work was awarded 'Best Educational Wine Book - UK' at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, and together with Matt's second book The Juice 2006 - 100 Wines you should be drinking, featured on the Christmas 2005 best sellers list. Matt?s next book, 'The Juice 2007' was published in October 2006 and he is currently writing The Juice 2008 and a follow up to Thirsty Work due for publication early 2008.
Over the past two years he has put pen to paper for publications including Conde Nast Traveller, Red Magazine, The Guardian, Amazon.com & Penthouse USA. Matt now has a regular column in Waitrose Food Illustrated and Sunday World in Australia.
Matt is also a regular guest on ITV's Saturday Cooks, Daily Cooks, UK Food's Great Food Live & Food Uncut. He continues in his day to day role as Head of Wine Operations for Fifteen restaurant's world wide.
Far from resting on his laurels, 2007 sees two new books, more TV, and more philanthropic work. Matt's enthusiasm for wine is only surpassed by his dedication to encourage people of all ages to feel more comfortable, more passionate and more enthusiastic about wine. Along with wife Carly and daughter Indi, Matt lives works and plays in London.
