Gennaro Contaldo is one of the most respected chefs in London as well as a renowned personality in his own right. He is widely known as the Italian legend who taught Jamie Oliver all he knows about Italian cooking.
Born in Minori on the Amalfi Coast, Gennaro's quintessentially Italian spirit and positive nature has made him a TV favourite. He regularly appears as the Italian food expert on 'Richard and Judy', and as a top chef on 'BBC Breakfast' and 'Saturday Kitchen'. In 1999 he opened his own restaurant 'Passione' in Charlotte Street, London which was awarded 'Best Italian Restaurant 2005' for the prestigious Tio Pepe ITV Restaurant Awards. His first cookbook - also called Passione - was published by Headline in 2003, became winner of the 'Gourmand World Cookbook - Best Italian Cuisine Book 2003', and was short listed for the Andre Simon Award.
Gennaro's second book 'Gennaro's Italian Year' was published at the end of last year and was nominated in the Richard & Judy 'Best Cook Book' category. It has already sold over 40,000 copies.
